The charming owners were searching for a secluded beach and came across Mahawella. In Sinhala 'maha' means 'big' and 'wella' means 'beach'. Whilst there is a fishing village at the far end of the bay which succulently ensures that a fresh catch is not too far away, the rest of the beach is blissfully deserted. Morning walks or, if you really have to, jogs, along this 3km stretch of sand are a joy. As the rising sun heats up your back the sea beckons you in to cool off and you can inhale deeply the fresh air. Bliss. |

There is no doubt...this is a big house. But if you are used to living in big houses this one will not swamp you even if there are only 4 in your number - much less so for 6. In fact it provides that rather rare opportunity to hide away from everyone and spend some quiet time gathering thoughts without being rushed or hassled. More bliss. |

The bedrooms all have ensuite bathrooms with large showers and fitted mosquito nets over the large beds. The pool is located near the study and kitchen in the inner courtyard so that it remains cool and offers a different space from the beach. The sitting room has gorgeous teak flooring and comfortable sofas as well a piano. |

The first time I stayed here it was for far too short a time and I was rushed...but the calm and tranquility took hold and I felt, by the end of my two nights that I had enjoyed a week's break. What a job huh? I highly recommend this villa. |

Russia - REED Family , simply fantastic oasis of calm and tranquility, on the perfect beach. Staff were all wonderful, warm, welcoming people. Food was exceptional. Such a relief from all thos standardised look-alike "5 star" resorts, this is your fantasy 5 star private home. |
