Over the 6 years since this large family house was renovated the owner has gradually infused his heart and soul into it, making the house into one of those that takes your breath away whilst at the same time being dedicated to having fun. |
| |
Similar to a lot of houses in this historic gem that is Galle Fort you would probably, if looking for the house for the first time, walk straight past thinking this cannot be it. But, the door says 41 and so with some trepidation in your mind you knock on it. A few short moments later the huge teak door, rescued by the owner from the original house, quietly opens and you are greeted by a smiling member of the staff. |
| |
Immediately your eyes feast in every direction and as you enter they dart all about you with increasing excitement. The checker board floor tiles - another rescued original - to the full size pool table and across the hall to the flat screen sat tv/dvd. The endless magazines and comfortable sofas cause a passing glimpse as you turn your attention towards the large swimming pool. |
| |
Quickening your pace towards the pool you glance to the right and your eyes hit the black terrazo bar - fun to be had with a few sunset cocktails there. More sofas. Finally you make it - the garden and pool. A glass of iced juice is offered and you sit taking it all in. |
| |
The pool, the garden gazebo, the sun loungers, outdoor dining, the private terrace off the master suite and you recall the bar, the pool table, and the sat tv. Great. It is then you remember you left your bags by the front door and just as you are about to jump up panicking that they will not be there anymore you see one of the house staff already carrying them to your room. Ahhhh...fabulous, the holiday has begun. |
